Background
Dr. Short was born in the Pittsburgh area but grew up on the coastal bend of Texas. He is therefore fluent in both “yinz” and “ya’ll” but complicated his accent by spending his senior year in high school in Kingston, Jamaica. He is married to Dr. Shaheen Halim and is the proud father of two sons, Nabil and Tariq. Nabil and his wife Arlene recently made him a grandfather to Elora.
Training
Dr. Short received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He completed an internship at the VA medical facility in Baltimore and post-doctoral training at the University of Maryland Medical School Department of Neurology. He has assisted with cognitive research projects at UM Neurology, the Department of Defense and NASA. Dr. Short has consulted with the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA), writing a blog on young-onset Parkinson’s disease. He has spoken at many national and local Parkinson’s conferences.
